Hello everyone!

In light of Thanksgiving coming this Thursday, our meeting is tomorrow, NOT Thursday. We hope you enjoy your thanksgiving however you choose to spend it, and for those of you who partake in Black Friday, may your endeavors find you many deals!

Because of the schedule change, our meeting will be in a new location. Tomorrow's meeting will be held at the Mechanical Engineering Building Room #238 - NOT Smith Hall. The meeting will be held at the usual time of 5:00 PM.

See you all there!

I'll be in the machine shop tomorrow (11/25) from 1:30pm~ to 8pm, and on Tuesday from 4:45pm~ to 8:00pm. We will be machining parts for both the chassis and arm. If you're machine shop certified, I highly encourage you to come if you can, we have LOTS of parts to make. If you're not certified, I may or may not have something for you to do. But if you're just absolutely flowing with robotic pleasure juices and need a quick fix, I'll find something for you to do, or you could take pictures for our upcoming website release super bonanza, cause we need those.

Today's agenda is as follows: we'll do a quick review of the system architecture as we'll be using for testing in upcoming weeks, before the folks who have volunteered to work on drive control, arm control, and base-station code each give us a short report on what they've accomplished, what needs to be done, and how we can help. After that, we'll break into smaller groups and do what needs to be done.

hi

Ok, now that we have the pleasantries out of the way, let's talk about stuff.

The first epic build session will be tomorrow (11/19) from 4pm~ to whenever the machine shop closes or whenever we feel like we hit a good stopping point. The arm isn't terribly hard to make, so it should be overwhelming. We can also work on the hand if we have time. Anyone can come and help, especially if you're machine shop certified.

I have pushed back the 2nd build session from Thursday to Friday starting at 1:30pm. We are getting our actuators delivered sometime on Thursday and would like time to measure, examine, and probe them before we start sticking them places. It would be unwise to machine a bunch of stuff based on their specs online only to find out things don't fit. The normal meeting on Friday will still happen.

Hello, everyone!

As we've done the previous two Saturdays, we'll be having the URC Control Systems meeting today at 3-4pm in MEB 238.

I can't write much right now since I need to leave for campus in about ... zero minutes (tip: living on- or near campus is probably super-convenient -- but then, I wouldn't know), but today we'll be going over the basic configuration of our systems for the December deadline, and organize into small groups and work on the several goals:

  • Arm control implementation
  • Drive control implementation, and
  • Internal communications protocol data-structures definitions

Tomorrow's general meeting is an imperative one. We will be discussing the logistics of our Utah URC desert pilgrimage (i.e: How to go from Seattle to Utah, how to go from Utah to Seattle, and how we do that with a robot (HINT: It involves a waffle maker and an ambulance)). In addition, we will also be discussing other things of interests.

Hello everyone!

Just here to remind you all that tomorrow (or today if you are actually getting some sleep and do not happen to read this e-mail until morning), Thursday, November 14, is the date of our next bi-weekly meeting. It will be at the same place, Smith 120, at the same time, 5 P.M.

We will be giving updates on the URC subsystem teams, information on workshop fundraising efforts, and information/plans for the Robotics Anonymous section of our organization.

Today's agenda is fairly straightforward: I'll talk a little bit about effective mindsets to use when (learning about) programming before moving into some more concrete things like:

  • binary numbers (and why you care),
  • data structures,
  • serial and I2C communication, and
  • pulse-width-modulation (PWM) output

Hello, everyone!

As the subject suggests, the DUBotics leads have chosen to reduce the General Meetings to a bi-weekly schedule. The simple fact is we don't currently have very much to report or discuss every single week, and we know you're busy suffocating on homework, midterms, and anything else your instructors can throw at you. Like the halfway-decent people we are, we respect your time.

And just in case the subject line doesn't jump out at some folks: There is no general meeting tomorrow, Nov. 7. 'K? Good. :) We'll send out another email a few days before the next one, which is likely to be on Thursday, Nov. 14.

Hello everyone!

This is a friendly reminder that there will be a meeting tomorrow. It will again be held at Smith 120, this Thursday, October 31st from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

Also, we are working on getting a weekend date for people to get shop certified. Like what was discussed in the meetings - it will be highly advantageous to get machine shop certified if you plan on working in the chassis, arm or any other mechanical teams. It will allow you to more freely participate and play a greater role in not only our club activities, but other engineering clubs as well. It may not hurt for those who are programming or electrically inclined to participate as well.

Hello everyone!

Hope everyone's been doing alright with midterm season passing through. This is a friendly reminder that tomorrow's meeting (October 17) will once again be in Smith Hall's Auditorium 120 at 5:00 PM. Feel free to show up and get more information about the different projects we have to offer and the groups you could be a part of.

For those of you who missed the previous meeting due to conflict - yes, you are still eligible to be a member of DUBotics! We do not expect any one of you to forgo going to class or a midterm to attend a meeting; so, rest assured that missing the first meeting did not affect your membership.

Last meeting, we went over the different groups you can join and laid out the road map for this coming year's activities.

Hello everyone,

I hope you all have been having a great time at school! Details of our first general meeting have now come in and we hope you all will be available for it!

The meeting will be held at Smith 120 at 5:00 PM on Thursday (10/10/13). If you are not familiar with Smith hall, it is the South-Eastern building of the quad and room 120 is an auditorium. There is no need to RSVP ahead of time for the event, feel free to show up and bring anyone along you think would be interested - the room seats 265 people so there is no shortage of space.

Thanks again for your guys' interest and we hope to see you all there!
