Mechanical
Useful things to learn:
- Become familiar with a variety of motors and how they work (e.g. stepper, linear actuators, brushed dc, brushless dc, servos, etc)
- Become familiar with gear trains and how they work
- Know how tank drive systems work
- Learn how to work in the machine shop or assist with assembly (contact us to get more info about shop training sessions)
Useful software:
- Autodesk Inventor (free for 3 years for students)
Control Systems
- Learn how to use git so you can start contributing code.
