Welcome to the Husky Taekwondo Club at the University of Washington.

Regular practices (Fall, Winter and Spring quarters) are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30pm – 8pm in the IMA Mat Room B.

Beginners and New Students via IMA class
Practices are held in Mat Room B from 6:30-8:00 pm. For new students that have registered for the Taekwondo Class through the IMA from 6:30-7:30, please know that you are welcome to stay until 8:00 pm. This is a great opportunity for you to get in more practice time and meet with other Husky TKD members. In addition, IMA registered students do not need to pay the Husky Club dues of $20. If you need to leave at 7:30, there is no pressure for you to stay until 8.

Sunday practices
We have expanded our schedule to include a Sunday practice from 3:30-5:00PM in Mat Room A. The practice is focused on strength and conditioning and geared towards members that are interested in competition. Practice is open to all ranks.

Please be sure to follow our FB group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/132130940308704/)  ‘Husky Taekwondo Club’ to stay up to date on all the news and activities.

For Prospective Members

If you want to join the club, just show up to our class! You will be invited to watch or jump right in when you are ready. We accept new members at any point in the year.

For beginners:
We try to accommodate beginners no matter when in the year they join, but the optimal time to join to stay aligned with the curriculum is at the beginning of the quarter. (For more info on the curriculum, visit the About page.) Our practices run like a class, so you will be able to learn from the very basics.

For those with experience:
Our primary style of teaching is WTF with a little bit of ITF mixed in. That said, we take pride in welcoming martial artists with diverse backgrounds, so you are free to adhere to whatever style you are used to. (For more info on the curriculum, visit the About page.)  In fall of 2017, we entered our first local competition. We entered contestants for poomsae, sparring, and demonstration (as a team) and we are planning to enter more competitions together in the near future.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions.
