I'm currently an undergraduate researcher at the Stone Lab where we work on the regeneration of inner ear sensory hair cells in the vestibular system. While I love everything neuroscience related, I also love playing the piano and watching tv shows! |

I am currently working as a research assistant in Weinstein Lab where we focus our research on the neuroinflammatory response associated with ischemic preconditioning and stroke. |

Mentor and Mentorship ChairMickey RuizHello! I’m Mickey and my pronouns are she/her. I am currently a third year student intending to double major in Physiology and Psychology. I currently have been conducting research in the Ed Kelly Lab in the Department of Pharmaceutics where we focus on preclinical models of metabolism in microphysiologic systems on the kidney (kidneys on a chip) to model human disease and predictive toxicity testing of drugs and xenobiotics. I am studying as a pre-grad student, hoping to be a part of UW’s Department of Pharmacokinetic program. I enjoy singing, playing the ukulele, drawing, and hanging out with my bunnies and hamster! |

I am a research assistant in the Moritz Lab where we study transcutaneous spinal stimulation and other novel technologies to treat spinal cord injury. I am really interested in studying neural engineering and its applications in graduate school. In my free time, I love reading about history, playing video games and tabletop role playing games, and watching anime. |

I’ve explored my passions for healthcare, journalism, and neuroscience through my involvement on campus as a volunteer at the UW Medical Center, news reporter for The Daily, and research assistant in the Perlmutter Lab. Outside of school, I enjoy expressing my creative side through photography and web design. I’m Rahul (he/him), a junior at the UW pursuing a BS in Neuroscience with a Bioethics minor, and I am super excited to be working with you all this year! Outside of academics, I research Alzhemier’s Disease pathology in C. elegans at the Kaeberlein Lab, and am spearheading many projects in novel biomarker research for progressive neurodegenerative diseases. I am passionate about medicine, social justice, reading, education, snowboarding, and poker - always happy to chat about any of the above at length and more! With many years of experience in mentorship and teaching, as well as working towards my med school applications for next year, I am happy to be of service to you all as you begin or continue your academic/extracurricular journeys! I'm a undergraduate research assistant in a lab focusing on reverse engineering on human retina and my current research focus in that lab is the sensitivity and color perception of S-cone in Central fovea. My research interest in general includes Brain-Machine Interface, perception and conscious. I enjoy snowboarding, hiking, photoshooting and food tasting in my free time. |

I'm passionate about science because I am always amazed by how the molecules and proteins interact with each other so dynamically and precisely in biological systems. They seem to be in their own world, and there is still so much to learn when it's just within our own bodies. In the future, I hope to bring this seemingly foreign language into patient care. In my free time, I like to read, go on walks, and try out new recipes in my kitchen. |
