2000 MISS GREEK COMPETITION


What: Miss Greek Contest: The largest privately organized philanthropic event associated with the University of Washington and by a non-profit organization in the state of Washington. Contestants from 15 campus sororities will be judged on talent, poise, philanthropic activities and above all, fundraising efforts in front of an audience of 1200. The audience is mostly made up of members of the U of W Greek System as well as friends and family members of the contestants. A nine-judge panel of U of W faculty, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center representatives and local dignitaries determine the winner, who will represent the U of W Greek System during Seafair. This year's Ms. Greek Pageant raised $80,000 for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.

Who: The University of Washington Chapter of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity organizes the event.

Where: Meany Hall on the University of Washington Campus.

When: Sunday, March 5, 2000. The contest begins at 6:00 p.m. and ends approximately at about 9:00 p.m.

Goal: This year's goal was $70,000 and was overwhelmingly achieved with a record $80,000 to be donated to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Funds are raised by each sorority representative as well as by the members of Delta Tau Delta.
