2017 Spring Journal Club
04/07/2017
Victor Hu leads the first discussion on flow batteries for the first journal club meeting this spring. He will mainly cover the principles, pros, and cons of all-vanadium and Zinc/Bromine flow batteries.

2016 Fall Journal Club: Characterizing Nanomaterials for Batteries
11/17/2016, Characterizing Nanomaterials for Batteries
We are glad to have Grant Williamson presenting on characterizing nanomaterials for batteries. Nanomaterial characterization is a way to understand the correlation between atomic changes and electrochemical performances. Some investigation techniques such as SEM, TEM, AFM, XRD can identify the surface topologies or structural refinements of functional materials.
Discussions: Charge transfer kinetics at the solid–solid interface in porous electrodes
An example of Marcus theory coming through where Butler-Volmer kinetics don’t.
