Formal Recruitment | Informal Recruitment | House Tour |
Formal RecruitmentMany women interested in becoming a part of the University of Washington Greek system choose to participate in Formal Recruitment, which takes place in early September around two weeks before the beginning of classes.Formal Recruitment consists of four rounds where potential members have an opportunity to interact with all sixteen sororities. Throughout the week there will be house tours, skits, philanthropy projects, and plenty of time to talk with current members in each house. The experience draws to a close with Bid Day, when potential members at last receive their bid to join a sorority! After receiving their bid, new members spend Bid Week (the week before school starts) moving into their new home and getting to know their sisters. Formal Recruitment is truly a once in a lifetime experience. If you are interested in learning more about Formal Recruitment, check out the University of Washington Panhellenic website at http://students.washington.edu/panhell/ - we look forward to meeting you in September!
Informal RecruitmentAlpha Xi Delta also participates in Informal Recruitment, which takes place throughout the school year and is open to any woman interested in joining a sorority. COR is much more casual than Formal Recruitment and we receive many wonderful members through Informal Recruitment each year.Potential members sign up with Panhellenic and are then contacted by sororities individually with invitations to come to various events. Activities may include going out to coffee, coming over for dinner and a house tour, participating in a sisterhood, or helping with a philanthropy event. This is a very personal way to experience sorority life and you may find that Informal Recruitment is a better fit for you than Formal Recruitment. For more information, please contact University of Washington Panhellenic at http://students.washington.edu/panhell/ or feel free to email our Informal Recruitment Chairs, Kyrie Peterson and Jill Greenaway, at alphaxi@u.washington.edu (in your e-mail be sure to include your name and phone number) – we hope to hear from you soon! Formal Living Room

Dining Room
Study RoomOur study room was entirely remodeled in the summer of 2004 to accommodate all of our members. There is ample space for any type of computer and/or printer, as well as many Ethernet connections. Our entire house is also equipped with wireless internet. It is also worth noting that there are designated quiet hours in the study room so that members can make the most of this space.
LoungeOur lounge is a perfect hang-out area for our members to catch an episode of “The OC” or sit and chat. There is a full kitchen (microwave, stovetop, oven, and refrigerator) for everyone to use. Our lounge will soon to be moved into the basement to a newly remodeled space so that we can add a few additional bedrooms on the third floor.
Sleeping Porch
Porch RoomThose members that sleep on the sleeping porch keep their belongings in a porch room, which they share with up to five other roommates. There is lots of closet space, as well as a chest of drawers for each member. Every porch room also contains book shelves and a desk.
BedroomMost bedrooms are double rooms, though we also have several single rooms available. Each quarter you have the chance to change your room and/or roommate, which provides an opportunity to live in different places with different sisters. In a double room each member has her own closet and chest of drawers. There is also a desk to share, as well as lots of shelf space. We encourage our members to decorate their rooms according to their own personalities, considering your room is a great space to really make your own.
President’s RoomOne of the perks of being the chapter president is having your own room and bathroom. Each president chooses an item to add to the room each year, which makes it quite a cozy space. Our president has an open-door policy and works hard to make sure that any and all member concerns are addressed.
Future Remodel PlansWe are currently in the midst of remodeling our beautiful home, though construction is occurring only during breaks so that our members can live in the house together. We have started with the basement, where we have already considerably improved our chapter room, study room, and laundry room. The lounge in the basement is also expected to be completed before the 2005 school year begins. If you have any questions about the remodel plans, feel free to contact our current chapter president, Hailey Heinrich, at hail@u.washington.edu.
