2015 XSP Research Grant Instructions

Two $1,000 research grants will be awarded to undergraduate and graduate students who are currently enrolled in the School of Environmental and Forest Sciences at the University of Washington. These grants are based on merit and financial need with the intention that the funds are used for research activities and equipment purchases.

The grant application packet can be dropped off in person to David Campbell or Lisa Nordlund in Anderson Hall rooms 116/130 OR uploaded the Catalyst dropbox (  NO LATER THAN 5:00 p.m. on Friday May 8th, 2015.

Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. Please email with any questions.

The application packet should include the following material:

1. Resume no longer than 2 pages. This resume should outline your relevant education, work history, achievements, volunteer work, but should exclude references.

2. Letter of recommendation from your advisor, committee member, or an influential faculty member. The author must email the letter to before 5:00 p.m. on May 8th 2015.

3. Current transcript that is either official or unofficial.

4. Proposal for research not to exceed 3 pages, double-spaced (excluding works cited) that includes the following components:
a. Title
b. Your name and names of collaborators with contact information
c. Project description:
i. Objectives and significance of project,
ii. Methods to be employed,
iii. Anticipated outcome and effect of project fulfillment,
iv. Timeline of project completion with any deliverables
d. Statement of financial need with budget of the proposed project
e. Other funding sources or scholarships received
f. Works cited
