Activities

Sigma Nu participates in several activities throughout the year. Balance is very important to us. The purpose of attending the UW is to get a strong education, but we love to have a great time while earning that education.

Athletics

The men of Sigma Nu realize that becoming a well-rounded individual is the goal of one’s college experience. We see athletics as an integral part of that process. Sigma Nu participates in flag football, two basketball leagues, softball, and numerous sorority tournaments. We also have rock climbers, soccer players, skiers, tennis players, golfers, and weight lifters in the house. Although we all have different levels of athletic ability and skill, most brothers actively participate in sports either for physical fitness, competitiveness, or just helping a cause for sorority philanthropy.

Social

The men of Sigma Nu understand that a full social schedule is a vital part of the fraternal experience. Each quarter, the calendar is full of various exchanges, raids, football brunches, philanthropies, and intramural sports with sororities. Our parties include date functions, theme parties, semi-formal dinners and more! Our social calendar is highlighted by our White Rose Formal, which is held during winter quarter.

We at Sigma Nu pride ourselves as being a gentleman’s fraternity. We believe women that we interact with should be regarded with the utmost respect and honor. Many of our brothers have found long lasting relationships, as well as marriage, right here at the college, through these types of social events and interactions.

Philanthropy

Community involvement is an important aspect of Sigma Nu. We are involved in various fundraising projects and community services that are organized each year to benefit people and charities in our community. We host two long philanthropy events ourselves: the all-sorority pickleball tournament and Springfest.

Pickleball Tournament:

The pickleball tournament, which benefits the Firefighter's Association, is held in the autmun and is planned and executed by the fall candidate class. This gives the candidates an excellent chance to interact with members of the greek system while helping the community.

Springfest:

Springfest, which benefits the St. Jude Children's Hospital, is held in the spring and is planned and executed by the entire house. This is a five-day event that involves the whole house.

In all, the ideals of Sigma Nu are demonstrated through philanthropy events, once again stressing our three cardinal principles: Love, Truth, and Honor.
