Chapter Programs

We place a high value on chapter programming that helps to build the four cornerstones of our fraternity, and the undergraduates in Pi Kappa Alpha are always striving to excel in all four areas:

Scholarship comes first because it is the reason we are at the University of Washington. Our members maintain a solid academic record, encourage each other to succeed in challenging majors, and are rewarded for their efforts through the scholarships and loans available at both a local and national level. In addition, our chapter has established a scholarship program to give financial help to incoming freshmen who have a history of achievement in line with our cornerstones.

Leadership opportunities in the fraternity are many. We encourage all of our undergraduates to take a leadership role in the chapter. These roles include the seven elected positions on our executive council and close to twenty chairmanships that are responsible for running different aspects of our chapter. There are also team captains that take responsibility for our athletic teams as well as pledge class leadership positions available to our incoming members. We also encourage participation outside of the fraternity, such as student government and other campus organizations. Several of our brothers have gained leadership experience through these organizations. You may view a full list of Officers and Chairmen.

Athletics are an integral part of our fraternity. Besides being a great outlet, they encourage leadership, teamwork, and brotherhood. Our track record in both the college sponsored athletics competition and in outside sports competitions is the best of any of the student organizations at the UW. And although many of our members are talented athletes, our focus lies on participation.

Community Service is the fourth cornerstone, because it is what sets us above other fraternities. We know that giving back to the community is a lifelong process, and recognize our college years as the perfect place to start. Every year we hold fund-raising sports competitions, donate time and money to area charity events, and collect food for the needy. Our philanthropy program is ever-changing, because each year our incoming members bring with them new ideas for our community service programming.
