Welcome to the MEETINGS page containing the minutes of Food Group @ UW Minutes from officers meeting 6.23.2009 · Took new officers on a tour of Food Group office · Cherry picking trip o Simone driving over from Seattle in AM, meeting Kate & Amy at noon at Orchard o Leave by 3pm to be back by 6pm · Northwest Harvest o Mari to lead this Friday’s trip o Some folks have RSVPd via email o Kate provided Dara with ideas for expanding Northwest Harvest volunteer opportunities beyond just volunteering at the food bank · Elizabeth to hook up new officers with Pablo if they’re interested in coordinating this · Passing the torch o We will continue doing Northwest Harvest through the end of the summer o New officers take over planning new activities now o Over the next few weeks, new officers need to meet up with the officer who previously held their position · Summer newsletter o Mari will explain it to the new officer and let them decide if they’d like to do a summer newsletter · Dean Wahl possibility of funding for FG · We are unsure of details related to $$ and when we will receive the money o Anna to complete a formal thank you to the Dean · Future events o Last April there was a Rainier Beach health fair that will be going on next Spring · Mari to get info to Dara o Bastyr event in the spring was successful and could be repeated · Kate may organize one event this summer o Kate will pass along Bastyr contact info to Rachel o Jenni suggested cooking meals for an agency which feeds the elderly every Sunday · Jenni will email contact about setting up an event o Dara provided some ideas: · Fruit gleaning via Solid Ground this summer · Bringing in a chef for teaching · Dara may link up with Culinary Club on this o Joyce to send Dara some info on a contact at Culinary Club o Elizabeth suggested going to Marra Farm o Kate typed up a list of potential activities to give to Rachel Food Group Officers Meeting – October 22, 2008 NWHarvest – Kate sent out email last week, some people rsvped. Meet in front of UW Med Center @ 2:15. McCormick’s for Happy Hour. Simone will email NWHarvest on the number of volunteers Kate to send a reminder email tomorrow Orchard Visit – Mari, Beth+1, Moz, Carey, Yvette, Simone, maybe Yumi. Stop in Cle Elum or Ellensberg for dinner on the way back. Simone to send out email on bringing food. Mari to meet Northern folks at 65^th & Roosevelt, underneath 1-5 at 8:30. Then meet up with Simone & Beth at QFC parking lot off Rainier exit at 9. Newsletter- Mari will create folder on computer in student room. Mari will try to put future newsletters on the NUTR website Fall newsletter may include: heartwalk pic, healthy food on a budget, healthy thanksgiving recipes, mood boosting tips, alumni profile (Alana Boynton, Jane Reece, check with Barb or Carey) Goal to complete before thanksgiving – release on November 21^st Mari to send out outline & assign parts soon RSO info – can use resource center for computer, admin needs, event funding & reservation. WA State Food and Nutrition Council – Food Group may join later on. Have a good newsletter Simone to schedule Anne Lund to come talk GPSS funding Anna to look into, may need to go through program Senator Activities: December food drive for NWHarvest Start Thursday, November 20^th – end Wednesday, November 26^th Distribute flyers & boxes on Thursday the 20^th Goal is to put out 3 collection boxes: Potential locations for boxes: Undergrad convenience stores/dorms/HSB/Libraries (grad and undergrad) Potential locations for flyers: Undergrad convenience stores/dorms/HSB/Ave Restaurants/Stores Other possible publicity: · Ask Carey to email to all departments · Get Student Public Health Assoc. send out email · Other list serves for undergrads? · A frame sign outside HSB & other undergrad locations · Slips promoting on cafeteria tables Tasks: · Elizabeth to make flyer · Mari to talk to friend about convenience stores · Kris will flyer Ave stores · Kate to contact NWHarvest & assign out any other tasks Future meetings: One meeting a month, try for 3^rd week of each month, adjust if necessary Next meeting, week of 17^th.
