Book Donation to Moi University

Some books in CHRJ’s used bookstore co-op cannot be sold to current UW law students because UW professors have moved to a different edition or series. However, these books can be valuable to law students around the world. In the past, we have donated books to students in Kenya.

In November 2006, CHRJ organized a donation of textbooks to the law school at Moi University in Kenya. Kenya uses the common law system like the U.S., so many of our basic law school subjects are very similar.

Volunteers from our general membership sorted through the books removed from our current inventory. They selected the best books and packed 11 boxes full. Professor Ngugi, one of CHRJ’s faculty supporters, donated the entire cost to ship all 11 boxes overseas to Kenya.

This is one example of the type of donation that can be made to those that need law books. If you know of an organization or group in need of donated law books, contact the bookstore manager at chrj@u.washington.edu.
