The
University of Washington's Burma Action Group was formed in 1994 by
four students who were searching for a way to help improve the human
rights situation in Burma. They were a Burmese student who had left
Burma after the 1988 crackdown; two American students who had spent
time with Burmese refugees on the Thai-Burma border, becoming caught up
in the justice of their quest for freedom and democracy; and an
American who was intrigued by Burma and its people. The group now includes college students and faculty and many people from the Puget Sound community, all of whom share in
common an interest in Burma. Currently the group meets on the first Tuesday of each month 6:30 p.m. - 7:45 p.m. at the Seattle Public Library Greenwood branch. |
