beauty in composite pattern of man-made structures

comments
:
I think one can find a perspective of art in many of man's larger structures. The structural arrangement required to counter the entropic tendency of the universe can form unexpectedly expected graceful patterns. Here, I see the inherent beauty of the constructional conformation of the Sydney Harbour Bridge as an immediate manifestation of the laws of the universe we live in.

unanticipated beauty in natural formation of everyday substance

comments

I never expected any foam to ever dry into a form like this. I captured it because it was unexpectedly different and beautiful, but it proceeded to feed me a thought. Here, I see the naturally formed cappuccino foam pattern as a reference back to the roots of a coffee plant, emanating to me the thought that no matter how much man processes what is provided by nature, it will always hold fast and come home to its bare implicit form.

As much as I love Jakarta as a home, there are some things I wish it has that I could only find elsewhere — public parks as a ubiquity, wider and cleaner sidewalks accompanying every street, houses with windows on all sides. The city had just completed its (and the country's) first MRT line at the time of the capture. The way the station looked like a different place than the rest of the city, specifically calling out Japan, gave me a brief moment of escape when I stood there within the foreign atmosphere.

Whenever I look at it, I am taken back to the old dining room in the old house, where the walls around me are a collection of whites — some tinted yellow and another slightly green — but none of them purely white. Whenever I look at it, I am hit with a tsunami of all the different flavors that it had ever brought to me. It never chose to stop reminding me of the nostalgic, iconic, home-cooked dishes of the family with which it always comes. Even when it is empty, I can see the steam that comes off of the freshly prepared dinner, that in no time fills the entire house with the warm and inviting aroma of a homecooked feast. Taking it to the new house feels like taking a part of the old house with it.

To be honest, this one was just fun to capture. I was eating at the restaurant with my family, and the lighting was perfect for a professional menu-worthy photograph. We've come so far in crafting what we eat; it definitely deserves more than just its own spotlight.

Do you ever get that warm feeling from appreciating everything that your mother has done for you and your whole family, simply from catching her finally finding some well-deserved time to wind down? In this captured moment, my family was spending time in a hotel-based self-isolation upon arriving in the US during the pandemic to send me to college. The unintended alignment of the sunlight in the golden hour combined with all the colors of the scene having a purposeful presence together takes me through an episode of appreciation.
