Palenggua was inspired by and intended to resemble one of the Bantu languages of Africa while also having some traces of influence from Oceanic languages brought from earlier iterations when the goal wasn't as clear.
I will say too that this is a very amateur attempt at getting at the features of an already-existing natural language. Although creating a language can seem impressive on the surface, it's very demanding of careful, broad thinking and precise planning; otherwise one will keep on falling into self-amplifying unfixable major issues like I have been. The grammar system of Palenggua is by no means as optimal as I would like it to be. The most profound constructed language grammar system I have learned and known is of the Na'vi language.
Regarding its sounds, though this language was made as an art language, mimicing Xhosa and Zulu with other foreign influences, it was really made because I got hooked to having a secret language.
In sixth grade when teachers are banning more and more seemingly innocent words that us sixth graders use as curse words, my friend group and I developed a secret code to communicate in, and especially curse in. It was given the name "Kokgraphory" by one of the group members. Kokgraphory started as just a written code based on English words, but writing was nowhere near enough. The speech code was promptly developed and agreed upon: reverse per word and switch the letters u with a, and e with o, i staying i. This simple encoding produced bizarre sounds, especially with our Indonesian-Englsih accents at the time. Written, it looks something like this: "Aey nuc ylisuo ssoag oht odec fi aey duor ti, tab ti si es druh et wellef nohw nokeps fi aey oru ten dosa et ti."
Palenggua was also developed because I felt like Kokgraphory wasn't real enough of a language, which it really isn't; it's code. My only mistake was to start without preparation and prior knowledge of "conlanging" (the hobby of creating and studying constructed languages), causing me to make problems right as I make the language.
Having learned more each time I make a new iteration, this is what I have ended up with so far:
