The goal of this program is to help incoming grad students with questions about starting grad school (research, classes, moving to Seattle, work/life balance etc.) as well as integrating them into the department when they arrive. If you’re an incoming student with questions about life as a UW chemistry grad student, or if you’re a current grad student interested in sharing your expertise, this mentorship network might be for you! Participation in this informal, student-led network is not only voluntary but entirely customizeable. We will partner all interested first year chemistry graduate students with a more senior graduate student based on their specific needs. To extend beyond traditional mentoring roles, we will plan events for all the participating mentees and mentors, so we can all share in each other’s expertise and learning. If there’s anything we’ve learned as graduate students, it’s that you’re never too old to learn something new or too young to teach a lesson.

To learn more about the expectations and to sign up, please follow the links for mentors or mentees, depending on the information you’re looking for. We’ll be pairing mentors and mentees based on survey responses, on a rolling basis as mentees sign up.
