Dear UW Students and/or WASMUN Volunteers:

Welcome! Bienvenue! Wilkommen! And thank you for your interest in the second annual Washington State Model United Nations. Your participation is vitally important in ensuring the continued success of the conference. Without your help, we could not pull it off; caucuses would go unmoderated, speeches would last forever, and delegations would quit the conference in droves. In other words, it would be too much like the real UN.

All kidding aside, you are all doing a tremendous service for the young adults of Washington State. The recent terrorist attacks against New York and Washington, D.C. have shown us that understanding international affairs is crucial in today's world. The American public can no longer afford to ignore events halfway around the world. Through this United Nations simulation, students will learn the art of diplomacy and public speaking, the dynamics of international politics, and gain an international perspective that few American teenagers have.

So, in the quest to spread international understanding and peace around the world, we hope this website will help you. Thanks again for your participation and dedication to WASMUN.

Sincerely,

Jasmine Marwaha
