Hobbies: I enjoy traveling to new places and experiencing new things. I love music and literature, so curling up with a book and my iPod is a great way to spend free time. Outdoor activities, like hiking and boating are also hobbies of mine. Shopping, particularly for shoes, is a hobby I love. I also like to just kick it with friends and family.
LTA has been an important part of my life, and the organization represents many ideals to me. Sisterhood is the first thing that comes to mind. There is a close sisterhood within my chapter: I share such a strong bond with my line sisters, which I will always treasure, and the older sisters act as quality mentors. Yet there is also a more broad sense of kinship I share with hundreds of women across the nation. It seems that whenever I meet a sister from another place, we are able to instantly bond despite the fact that we are strangers. Pride, both in culture and history, are also things I associate with LTA. Being part of LTA has helped me celebrate and share my cultural roots (both the Puerto Rican and white sides!) strength is another important aspect that LTA represents for me. The organization itself provides a whole community of people who are there for you, no matter what. Together we are strong, and we are able to combine our efforts in order to voice our opinion, educate others and help improve the community. My sisters and the many activities we participate in bring me joy and a sense of accomplishment.
