• The Hutch School provides education to pediatric patients or family members of patients of the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. The school is located on the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (FHCRC) campus.

• Each week, two groups of Rho Chi members prepared interactive science lessons and taught lessons to middle school and high school students at the Hutch School.

• Example science lessons:

1. Making ice cream and the science behind the process

2. Making caramel and the science behind the process

3. Red cabbage pH indicator

4. Optical illusions

5. Blood pressure measurements

6.The role of a pharmacist

7. Dry ice experiments

8. Human anatomy: Hutch School high school students attended a lab at the UW and examined human bones

2003: Members helped to organize farewell reception for the former dean of the UWSOP, Dr. Milo Gibaldi.

• Helped to organize farewell reception for students, faculty, staff and alumni
• Assembled scrapbook of memories for Dr Gibaldi and prepared a slide show for the reception
• Helped to raise funds to found an annual scholarship in honor of Dr. Gibaldi

2004: UW Medical Center Health Fair:

• Rho Chi officers plan the UWSOP booth for Health Fair. Activities included bone mineral density and lipid screenings, drug information booth and hands-on drug compounding booth for grade school and high school students

• Rho Chi members and other UWSOP students volunteer to run the booths for the two-day event
