Damarys Espinoza

Ometeotl.

My name is Damarys Espinoza. I am Cora and Chicana. My maternal grandparents, Juan Carrillo and Maria Delores Gomez are from Mayarit, Mexico. Jorge Elizalde and Francisca Alaraz Ledesma, my paternal grandparants are from the central states of Puebla and Queretaro, Mexico. I am the daughter of Victor Jorge Espinoza and Lourdes Carrillo Gomez, I am most grateful for and committed to being a Mexica Aztec Dancer, an auntie, a writer, and a scholar.

I received a BA in Anthropology and Literature from UC Santa Barbra and an MA in Sociocultural Anthropology from the University of Washington. I am currently in the doctoral program in Anthropology at the University of Washington. My research foci include Indigenous health and wellness, Women's Studies, social movements, and medical anthropology.
