She participated in the inaugural European Student Conference at Yale in 2015, which inspired her to start a European Horizons chapter at the University of Washington. Although European Studies is only her minor, Lauren conducts research on EU-level NGO alliances and online collaborations, was Council President of West Coast Model European Union, and participated in the UC-Claremont Undergraduate Conference on the European Union in 2015. After UW, she plans on attending graduate school, maybe in the UK. She enjoys traveling, yoga, writing, and watching documentaries.

With a strong disciplinary foundation in political science, Kai is more generally interested in the relationship between EU institutions, national institutions, and European publics, as well as the study of the EU in a comparative perspective. Kai was a Council President in the 2014 West Coast Model European Union, and has presented research on the EU at the 2014 Europe: East and West Undergraduate Research Symposium at the University of Pittsburgh and the Claremont-UC Undergraduate Research Conference on the European Union. After graduation, Kai hopes to attend a graduate program in political science and aspires to work in academia or a research organization.
