The leaders of iYouth are proud to be hosting a conference on January 31st for those students and professionals interested in Children’s and Youth Services. We have a fabulous line-up of speakers and topics to appeal to those interested in working with kids from toddlers to High Schoolers. Nancy Pearl, of librarian action figure fame, will be the keynote speaker for the event. In addition, she is the author of Book Lust, More Book Lust, Book Crush, and Now Read This I & II. The conference offers a children’s track and a young adult track. The children’s sessions will address early literacy, technology, and reluctant readers. The YA sessions will focus on graphic novels/manga, technology, and the best new fiction for teens. Professionals from the Puget Sound area such as Nancy Stewart, Jerene Battisti, and Angie Benedetti will be presenting. There will be public librarians and school librarians on the panels to promote a balanced vision of what is new and exciting in this field. Space is limited, so register soon. The deadline is Jan. 15th. Price is $15 for students, $20 for professionals.
