Engineering Discovery Days 2026
An augmented reality RC car built for Engineering Discovery Days, the UW College of Engineering's K-12 outreach event. We ran it to show younger visitors the kind of work the UW Reality Lab, one of our partners, does.
HUB scan complete
A walkable 3D model of the HUB, captured with Matterport, to improve the building's accessibility. The HUB is finished and open to explore online; the rest of campus hasn't been scanned yet.
2024–25
In minimally invasive surgery, surgeons follow the procedure on monitors whose placement contributes to musculoskeletal disorders affecting 50–85% of practicing surgeons. CARE wirelessly casts any video source into an Apple Vision Pro, directly in the surgeon's field of view, with under 71 ms of latency at 1080p. Led by an XRA member under UW RHLab; XRA helped recruit the team from our members.
Founded 2023 · now independent
Classes held in virtual reality. Metaverse Academia runs a campus on Resonite, a social VR platform, with immersive classrooms that can show things no physical room could. It hosts community classes and weekly workshops for learners around the world, with translators on hand to cross language barriers. XRA helped its founder, a former UW student, create the framework; it now runs independently.
Plus other member-built projects over the past few years, not written up here yet.
