10 Tips to Prepare for the Fair
- Research employers in advance
- Create a well prepared resume & bring 10-15 copies to job fair
- Dress appropriately (Business Casual)
- Identify employers that interest you the most
- Arrive early to allow time to interact with employers
- Greet employers with a smile and handshake
- Prepare an introductory speech ( a two-three line script to introduce yourself & express your interest)
- Collect business cards
- Send a thank you note to employers you meet at job fair that interest you
- Complete any online applications as requested by employers
Resume Book!
The 2012 Diversity Career Fair Resume Book will be filled with UW student and alumni resumes and will be distributed to registered companies for a small fee. To get your resume into this highly anticipated book simply follow the instructions below.
- Make sure that you have a resume ready to upload. If you need help in creating a resume, you can visit this page for recommendations from The Career Center.
- Login to your HuskyJobs account at www.huskyjobs.washington.edu/students/
- Your username is your UWNetID email.
- example: jdow@uw.edu
- If you do not know your password, use the “forgot password” tab.
- Enter your UWNetID email address and ”submit.” A password will be emailed to you.
- Complete or update your student profile.
- Upload your resume into your HuskyJobs account, under the “my documents” tab.
- Submit your resume to the 2012 Diversity Candidates Resume Book
- Staying on the “my documents” page, look for the Opt-in Resume Book tab, you will see a list of all your available uploaded documents
- Locate the resume that you want to submit, and then look to the Options column on the far right.
- In the Options column choose Select Resume Books, checkmark to indicate the 2012 Diversity Candidates Resume Book.
- Submit your resume.
- Log out, or spend some time exploring HuskyJobs. Year round, HuskyJobs is the place to go to find great jobs or internships!
