Global Health Group Events
Washington State Refugee and Immigrant Conference
This year the conference has added a special set of workshops to build capacity among medical providers to serve the refugee population. The presenters are well known in the field of refugee health and come ready to share their knowledge, answer questions, and engage in lively discussion.
The health workshops include:
---Refugee Screening
---Supporting Refugee Women around Child-Bearing
---Treating Refugee Children
---Refugee Mental Health
---Chronic Disease Management & Preventive Medicine for Refugees
---Medication Adherence and Cross-Cultural Work with Pharmacies
---In our own words - Finding common ground between medical beliefs and practices
---Culture Matters for HIV Testing and Counseling
---Where do we go from here? - Building strategies, Sharing Resources, Next Steps
The health workshops compliment other workshops including youth-education, employment, housing and more. It is our hope that attendees will not only choose to attend the health workshops, but also attend other workshops so that they may have a better connection to, and appreciation of, our communities' rich and diverse refugee population and service providers.

The conference is low cost ($55) and there are plenty of scholarships available.
