Huskies Kick Butts

On Earth Day 2016 — Friday, April 22 — join TAG, Students Expressing Environmental Dedication (SEED), and the UW American Lung Association (ALA) for a campus-wide cigarette butt cleanup to show administration that we Huskies recognize the social and environmental injustices of tobacco, and that a tobacco-free campus policy is the logical next step in our climate change mitigation efforts.

On Monday, April 30, 2016, TAG hosted a guest lecture by Dr. Alan Blum, Director of the Center for the Study of Tobacco and Society at the University of Alabama, about the history of tobacco in the United States, entitled The Surgeon General vs. The Marlboro Man: Who’s Really Winning? Read more about Dr. Blum’s talk in this article published in The Daily.

On Tuesday, November 3, 2015, TAG hosted a free film screening of Merchants of Doubt, a documentary about the “scientists” who cast doubt about the harmful effects of tobacco, and how they are at it again with climate change. Read more about the event here.

On Thursday, April 9, 2015, TAG hosted Huskies Kick Butts Day, a campus-wide cigarette butt cleanup. Over 50 people participated, collecting approximately 8,000 cigarette butts.
