What is SEED?
SEED is an environmentally-focused student organization at the University of Washington. As we are funded by Housing and Food Services (HFS), our main focus is promoting sustainability in the campus residence halls and dining operations. We work closely with the administration in HFS, from helping to expand the composting system to promoting an HFS-run program that allows students to swap incadescent light bulbs forcompact fluorescent bulbs. This cooperation is one of the reasons SEED is known for being the group that "gets things done," making a tangible difference on campus. Though we focus on the residence halls, we also reach out to the broader campus community with activities such as staffing the compost and recycle bins at "Dawg Daze" events put on by First Year Programs. Our activities are diverse, but they all support the same simple goal: to create a more sustainable society.
