UW CLUB FAIR - Sept. 30, 10:30-2:30
Most people could help out at the table during the morning, and only Eleanor could be there in the afternoon. Eleanor will make fliers and make sure they get to Dieter, who will make sure that they arrive at the fair. Dieter (and possibly others) will man the table in the morning, and Eleanor will arrive at approximately 12:30. Sonnet might show up with a dressmaker's form and garb; an attempt will be made to procure photo albums and things-to-show-off from Gordon. Dieter will bring/wear his armor. More people to man the table are welcome, as well as objects to show on the table (especially if they aren't armor or garb). We will have candy to bribe people with.
Eleanor will also be asking people in the Barony if they have things we could display. Everyone is encouraged to help mind the table as their schedule permits - Rosalind may have a more detailed list of who said they could be there when. To go along with this, people are encouraged to wear garb (or partial garb) and bring period handcrafts to do if they so desire. Rosalind is responsible for getting the candy.
REGULAR MEETINGS
As somewhat discussed on this list, we decided on Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm. The first Wednesday of each month will be project night, and the third Wednesday will be the business meeting. We settled on this because the first Wednesday in October is the week after the club fair; we thought it would be nice to have a newcomer-demo style project meeting, including a "what is the SCA" introduction.
BANNER
Since we don't have a banner any more, Sonnet is going to see if she can get a new one made (of plastic) before the club fair. We voted to authorize her to spend up to $100 on said banner (since time is short and we won't be able to have another meeting before then).
This would be a vinyl banner with our heraldry, name and UW website that can be displayed in front of a table. Derian is going to research making both a new banner of our device (the old one disappeared from in front of CT's house last spring) as well as other generic banners (like the ones Gordon has for campsites) and bring suggestions to a future meeting.
Badger is going to work on making (or obtaining) a carved stamp of our populace badge so we can make Bunstable favors for ourselves.
HYPOTHETICAL DECEMBER EVENT
This is far too big a topic to summarize in the minutes, even if I could remember everything that was discussed. I'll leave it to Eleanor, the autocrat, to elaborate, but here are the details I jotted down.
| When: | Dec. 10 (Dec. 3 fallback), ~5:30pm |
| Where: | Greenspire (if we can) | What: | This is the big one. It'll be a sort of feast plus food plus theatre, hopefully involving the drama and culinary guilds (and thus depending on what they want to do). The proposed name is "Feast of St. Bunstable." |
It was furthermore decided that we would not charge a site fee and instead put out a jar for donations, thus avoiding the non-member surcharge.
If neither of the Dec days worked we discussed possibly moving it back to Jan 14 - basically saying the location close to campus and having no site fee is more important than having the event in December. We were thinking of providing the main dish for the feast (well two - one veg, one meat) and having an "organized potluck" for sides and desserts. Eleanor will work on securing the site, checking into their food rules, and contacting groups we would like to invite to participate (Drama and culinary); as well as doing the official SCA paperwork to get on the calendar and into the Crier and double checking how to legally accept donations to cover food costs without running afoul of the NMS. CT volunteered to help coordinate the main dish, and Badger and Derian said they would work on site tokens.
SIR FIACH
We decided to pose three challenges to our heavy champion, so that he may prove his worthiness, but we didn't decide what those would be. It was proposed that he should prove himself worthy of the three pillars of the College (knowledge, community, and passion), and that this should happen at the December event.
DOMESDAY BOOK
Brainstorming happened. Eleanor read off the dates by which our drafts need to be submitted, and I didn't catch them so I'll let her post them. Those who are interested in working on the Boke will meet separately.
Bottom Line: We need complete drafts by Twelfth night (Jan 7) or shortly thereafter, and the final copies done by March 15.
THE SPRING FLING THAT DIDN'T
There was leftover business from Spring Fling, namely the Light of St. Bunstable and A&S Champion, which were not awarded. We decided that rather than trying to award them now, we'll just start publicizing the A&S championship so that people will be prepared for the spring. For the Light (an award for service to the College), we'll *do* things so that people have the opportunity to actually serve.
