The Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) is a network of students, alumni and health professionals whose
mission is to promote the development of Latino students through educational, volunteer, professional and
networking opportunities to foster diversity, higher education and the improvement of the Latino Community.

W A S H I N G T O N
In Early 2004, Alberto Ruvalcaba, Miriam Castro and Maria Verduzco got the idea to bring LMSA to the UW.
The fall of that year, they approached the ASUW La Raza Student Commission Director and created the Latino Medical Student Association
UW Chapter, a group open to both professional students and undergrads.
They also established the mentoring program, which had a very sucessful first year.

In July 2009 National Network of Latin American Students changed their name to the Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA-National) and the former "LMSA" became "LMSA-West". LMSA-National is made of up five regions (West, MidWest, Northeast, South East, SouthWest). Click here for a map.

Chicano Latino Mentorship Network was a group fo Chicano/Latino Health Professionals in Washington. In 2005/6 the group became a part of the LMSA chapter at UW
