Venus Kennedy vkennedy@u.washington.edu

BAM!!!

Major: International Business

Year: Junior

Why an officer: I always try to get involved wherever I am, and BSU is an organization where I see a lot of potential.

Quote to Live by: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry. (James 1:19)

What does she like about the UW: UW is a large school - and while there are some drawbacks to that it means that there are MANY opportunities to get involved in whatever you want and a staggering amount of unique classes that are available for you to take (I mean what school has a class "the Science of Papermaking"?! I also think it is a beautiful campus.

Goals for her position this year: I would like to make sure that BSU has a presence on the web (which is one of my goals attained if you are reading this!!) and that the BSU website can serve as a "one-stop-shopping" for blacks at the UW who are interested in on campus events, scholarships, etcetera. I would also like to  increase marketing for BSU events, update the BSU constitution, and create a BSU brochure for passing out at cultural events and to send to new students.

Know-Me-Homie Question

"What is your favorite song of all time? "

If we're talking about all-time then I gotta go old-school. I love the classics like Close the Door - Teddy Pendergrass and Fire & Desire by Rick James and Tina Marie....but those don't even compare to my favorite - Losing You by Atlantic Starr. There's something so beautiful about a man not willing to give up on the love he shares with his woman.

Costa Rica flag Note: Alexis & Venus will be in Costa Rica, studying abroad, fall quarter. They leave late September and return late December. They will still be available by email during their time abroad, however, for pertinent issues refer to their backups. Venus' backup is Jantalle Reid. ˇHasta luego!
