This year, the ASCE GI Seattle Chapter proudly relaunched its scholarship program to support outstanding students in their pursuit of excellence in geotechnical engineering. After receiving numerous high-quality applications, we are pleased to congratulate the following recipients:

Luis Angel Guerrero Hoyos is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering at the Passionate about landslide mapping, Luis aspires to integrate remote sensing technologies, such as InSAR and LiDAR, into future infrastructure development and urban planning. He also serves as the Social Media Coordinator for GIGGS.

Victoria Zdanovski is currently pursuing her Masters in Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Washington. A native Washingtonian, Victoria was inspired to understand the seismic and landslide challenges associated with infrastructure design in such an environment. She hopes to apply her passion and schooling into improving waterfront structures across the Pacific Coast.

Nicklas Schmidt-Bailey is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at Seattle University. During his tunnel construction internship at Devle Underground, Nicklas gained valuable insight into the scale, complexity, and interdisciplinary nature of geotechnical engineering. He aims to further his passion by pursuing a Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Washington. Additionally, Nicklas serves as President of Seattle University’s ASCE student chapter.
