Campus Girl Scouts
University of Washington
Meeting Minutes
October 12, 1999
6:00 PM
HUB (Husky Union Building) 304F
Facilitator: Stephanie Richardson
Note Taker: Hannah Tang
GSTC Advisors: None
Present: Leanne Gilly, Katy Sible, Katie Watt, Megan Davis,
Jessica Tang
- Finances
- There is currently $8 in the account (a donation from
Leanne). There is a concern that Washington Mutual (where our
account is located will charge us an $8 service fee. We will
need to start collecting dues (set at $5 this year) soon.
ACTIONS: Leanne will talk to the bank about the service
fee.
- Fundraising
- We are considering Jessica's candygram for the dorms. We
still have to get the approval of the RD's (Resident Directors),
which Jessica is working on. To promote and sell the candygrams,
we are considering having a table at McMahon (on Mondays) and
Haggett (on Fridays), as well as another table at Terry/Lander
during dinner. Stephanie suggested we have different types of
cards, with the residents being able to choose. The cards will
be on 1/4 size paper, and we will vote on the final designs on
the Jan 11 meeting. Advertising in the dorms will begin on
Monday, Jan 3.
ACTIONS: Megan has volunteered to make some sample cards
for us to look at (she has PrintShop Pro). Hannah will look
into the legal issues around getting candy donated and
acknowledging donations on the card by asking
Angelina.
- Constitutional Discussion - Dues
- There was some discussion regarding the dues. It is going to
be kept at $5 this year, but it has been requested that the set
amount in the constitution be removed, which will provide more
flexibility.
- Future Meetings
- Our November meeting will be held in McCarty on the 9th,
from 5-7 PM. Each attendee should bring about $5 for the pizza
cost. An IMA night on Friday, Nov 13 was proposed, which would
include roller-skating and archery.
We will have Secret Santa's for our December meeting, which will
be a fun way to relax from finals stress.
CONCLUSIONS: Our next meetings will be November 9th and
December 7.
ACTION: Megan will get pizzas for the November meeting
(one meat combination, and the other a vegetarian)
- SAO Activity Fair
- We got the email of one interested member, and passed
information to several others. Leanne and Jessica also gave out
information about Campus GS to a graduate student in Social
Work, who was looking for service projects.
- Website
- Hannah has put together a temporary website so that we have
something to get information out. We are hoping Danielle will
be able to put something permanent up.
- Announcements
- There is a leaders' meeting for the local service unit on
October 18, at 7 PM. Today's edition of the UW Daily has a
(humorously derogatory) announcement of today's meetings. It
did not, however, bring in any interested new members.
=)
Meeting adjourned at 7:25 PM
