Campus Girl Scouts
Meeting Minutes
March 29, 2000
2nd Floor HUB Lounge (Husky Union Building)
4:30 PM
Note Taker: Leanne Gilly
GSTC Advisors: None
Present: Leanne Gilly, Megan Davis, Chia Chang,
Hannah Tang
- Song and Games Event:
- Rental facilities were looked into, but found to be too
expensive. So we decided that it would be best to put off the
event until next year. This will give us time to plan and find a
better facility to use. We have tenatively set the date for some
time in November, hopefully on an afternoon.
- Senior Event:
- It was decided that we should hold the event this year
because Leanne was told that you could not get tickets far in
advance for a softball game (only 1 1/2 hours before the game).
We are going to talk with sports teams next year and discuss
getting guarenteed tickets beforehand.
- Junior Fly-up:
- Sandy Poort would like us to help plan a Junior Bridging
Activity for next January. We would help Senior Scouts organize
the event and then talk with 6th graders about Girl Scouting as
Young Adults. This would be a great way to promote Campus Girl
Scouts to Senior Scouts.
- Leadership Weekend:
- A cabin or two will be set aside for us at the Annual
Leadership Training Weekend in October 2000. Anyone wishing to
attend would sign up for a class (Leadership training, outdoor
ed, crafts, cooking) and then hang out with other Campus Scouts
at night. More information will be sent out in June and then
August or September. If you are interested, email Leanne at (A

to let her know.
- Officers:
- We will be holding elections at our next meeting. There
are five officer positions, which Leanne, Megan, Hannah, Jessica,
and Chia have volunteered to run for. We will also be voting on
amendments to the constitution.
- CGS Activity:
- After our next meeting, all CGS are invited to join us at
the Husky Women Softball Game. We will watch the game and snack
on ice cream.
- Events/Activities for Next Year:
- During the meeting, we talked about several ideas for next
year: Leadership Training Weekend, Junior Activity, songs and
games, answering Santa letters, and sports events. We will begin
discussing these activities and planning over the next meetings
in May and September. Also, we thought it would be better to
focus on helping with service units or council activities more
next year.
- Dues for Next Year:
- Since we have not had a large turnout at meetings and no
activities, we are skipping requiring dues for this year.
However, we will vote on the dues for next year at the next
meeting. $5 was discussed.
- Next Meeting:
- The next meeting will consist of voting on officers,
amendments, and dues. Then we will discuss some of the
activities mentioned above as well as eat ice cream and watch a
softball game. The meeting will be announced in a
week.
Meeting adjourned at 5:30 PM
