ALISS Events

The Association of Library and Information Science Students (ALISS) puts on a number of events each year, from brown-bag lunches with prominent members of the library and information science field, to annual events like the Spring and Fall Book Sales. If you would like to get involved or volunteer for these events, send us a note.

If you can’t join us for an event, or maybe you just want to share your thoughts, experiences and photos, make sure to follow us on Twitter and Instagram! Our Facebook Page is open to current MLIS students and don’t forget about Canvas!

Do you have a great idea for a student event, want to travel to a conference, or throw an alumni event?

There are several exciting funding possibilities available for students and student orgs at this time. There are funds available for student events, alumni events, and conference travel. Here’s some of the funds available and where you can learn more about accessing them. Don’t worry if you’re not a member of a student org. Many of the orgs, AIMS included, would love to help you with your idea.

Student Leadership Council

The Student Leadership Council (SLC) is composed of representatives from AIMS, IUGA, ALISS, and the PhD Association. The SLC has a combined pool of around $5,000 for student events. This can be used for almost any student activity available to all iSchool students. Funding guidelines are soon to be published, but don’t let that stop you from applying for funding now.
