The UW women's lacrosse club was founded in 1988 by six University of Washington students. It was originally formed solely as a recreational team due to the limited number of members. In the next few years, more women were drawn to the club and they became active competitors in the Pacific Northwest Lacrosse League.

In 1997, Washington Women's Lacrosse became the NWWLA Collegiate Champions. Five years later, after the reinstatement of the Collegiate Championship tournament, the undefeated Huskies were victorious again, defeating arch rival Western Washington 6-4 in the 2002 finals.

In 2003, UW joined Western Washington, PLU, U. of Oregon, and Whitman College in the Northwest's first season participating in the WDIA, the national collegiate club league. Suffering only one collegiate loss during the season, UW became the first Northwest WDIA champions, defeating Whitman College 11-1 in the finals

Our 2004 season marked yet another successful year. We played in the WDIA NW Championships against University of Oregon losing by only one goal. For the first time in our league's history (NWWLA) this game determined an automatic bid to the National WDIA Chapionships.

The 2005 season brought even more great accomplishments.  UW competed in the Northwest Women's Regional Championships and succeeded in making it all the way to the National Championships in Blaine, Minnesota.

This year, with a young ambitious team and our excellent coaching staff, we are striving to continue the tradition of excellence!
