WULR 2012 Elections
4/7/2012

Elections for the 2012 – 2013 Executive Board will be held on Thursday, April 12th.

On Thursday, April 15th, the WULR will be electing four Executive Editors and the Editor-in-Chief. All active members are welcome to run (please see below for eligibility requirements). All candidates will be provided with a maximum of five minutes to address WULR members, and must address the following questions:

  1. How long have you been a part of WULR?
  2. Why do you want to be an Executive Editor / Editor-in-Chief?
  3. What qualifications or accomplishments do you have that will allow you to succeed in this position?
  4. What do you bring to the position?
  5. What would you continue or do differently, if elected?
Candidates will also have the option to have a single Powerpoint slide displayed during their speech. The Powerpoint slide must be emailed in advance, and may only contain 12 pt, Times New Roman font with no color, graphics, or animation.

Spring 2012 Submissions

It’s that time of year again! The Washington Undergraduate Law Review is now accepting submissions for its upcoming Spring issue. Please send all submissions to wulr@uw.edu by March 30th. See below for additional information.

The Washington Undergraduate Law Review (WULR), an academic legal journal based at the University of Washington, is accepting submissions for its Spring 2012 issue. The WULR, which is entirely run by undergraduates, publishes law-related essays, research papers, and other undergraduate written work; thus, submission to the WULR is open to all majors.

Submissions should be submitted in Microsoft Word file (.doc or .docx) in double-spaced, 12 point font. All citation styles commonly used by the humanities (Chicago, MLA, APA, Turabian, etc.) and legal literature (The Bluebook, The Maroonbook, ALWD, OSCOLA, etc.). Articles chosen for publication will be converted by WULR to conform with The Bluebook style guide. Please include a cover page with the following information:

  1. Full name
  2. Contact information (email, phone)
  3. Article title
  4. Complete abstract
  5. Brief biography
  6. College / university

Submissions are selected for publication by the WULR's executive editors. All submissions for the spring quarter issue of the Washington Undergraduate Law Review are due by Monday, March 30th. Please send submissions and any additional questions to wulr@uw.edu.

The WULR has a no-tolerance policy for plagiarism and academic dishonesty, and any submission found to be plagiarized will be rejected. All submissions will be run through a plagiarism detector.


Revised Group Meeting Times
1/14/12

Group meeting times for "Law and Libraries: An Exploration of Library Privacy" and "A Dignified Void: The Decline of Parliamentary Sovereignty and the Rise of Conventional Legislative Judicial Review in the United Kingdom" have now changed.

"Law and Libraries" will now be meeting Mondays, from 4 - 5:30 p.m.
"A Dignified Void" will now be meeting Tuesdays, from 5:30 - 7 p.m.


WULR Winter 2012 Editor Applications Now Available

Applications for both Editor and Lead Editor positions are now available on our Editor Applications page, and are due by noon on Monday, January 16th. When emailing us your application, please be sure to include your top 3 paper preferences, and place your first and last name included in the application's document title.

Returning Fall 2011 Editors do not need to resubmit an application (unless they are applying for a Lead Editor position). Instead, please email wulr@uw.edu with your name, contact information, availability, and top 3 paper preferences.

WULR Introduction to Bluebook Citations Meeting

WULR's next meeting will be held Tuesday, October 11th in Savery Hall 137 from 6 - 7 pm. The meeting will cover an introduction to the Bluebook citation system that we will be using throughout the quarter, and is mandatory for all those who wish to hold a WULR editor position.
