I am a 2011-2012 Fulbright Fellow to Canada, and a 2010 US Anita Borg Memorial Scholar. I am a third year PhD student and PhD Candidate in Information Science at the Information School , and an affiliated graduate student with The Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies, Canadian Studies Center at the University of Washington. Additionally, I am a 2008 alumna of the Executive Master of Science in Information Management program.
Currently, I am pursuing two different courses of research.
The first investigates the role of information systems in the lives of homeless young people. I am sponsored in this work by Associate Professor David G. Hendry. You can read a March 2011 article about our work here.
And here is a video of my talk, based on our paper, titled Stabilizing Homeless Young People with Information and Place.
Prof. Hendry and I have established a partnership with Street Youth Ministries, working together to create a community technology center. You can read about this work on
the Information School website and the National Clearinghouse on Families and Youth website.
The second course of research is focused on projects regarding the learning and behavioral competencies of IT project managers. Assistant Professor Hazel Taylor supports me in this work.
