2007.05.12- Relay For Life
This year’s Relay For Life jump-started with a vigorous and culturally enlivened dance from the Japanese International Students of Highline Community College. They represented Tzu Chi in the talent show performing the traditional fisherman dance. They received great cheers and support and hopefully will be performing for other community events in the future. We were glad that such cooperation could take place.
Many thanks to Shanti, our long term Tzu Ching volunteer who made the link between Tzu Ching and the international students.
We raised in total around 700-800 dollars for the American Cancer Society.
Therefore, congratulations Jill, we met the goal you set for us

2007.04.28- Spiritual Gathering
It was a successful gathering that created an opportunity for everyone to share moments of family memories with each other.
We watched 父母恩重難報經 music performance, which translates into English as “THE SUTRA ABOUT THE DEEP KINDNESS OF PARENTS AND THE DIFFICULTY IN REPAYING IT”
Many were deeply touched by the content and in the end, we distributed letters and stamps that would be sent out in time for Mother’s Day as a chance for students to express their sincere gratitude for their parents.

2007.02.10 -Da Ai Lunar New Year Event
Tzu Chings supported the event by interacting with families in events such as: cutting New Year paper flakes. Gary performed as the technician for stage performances and presentations.

2007.1.6- qtr Socks Drive
This Winter has been cruel to Seattleites. Not to mention the cold weather, unusual snow storm accompanied with strong wind also hit Washington hard. Areas in the East had to cope with holidays without electricity.
Due to the weather, we had to reschedule our event to a week later. It provided us extra time for planning and figuring out how we should carry out the give-out event with efficiency and appreciation.
Overall, we improved in following Tzu Chi charity manners and in explaining the idea of ‘垃圾變黃金“ ( Trash to Gold) behind this event.

2006.12.13- X’mas at Nusring Home
Nursing home visit before X’mas has always been special day for Tzu Chings and for the elder.
This year, Tzu Ching prepared a paper puppet show of ‘Nightmare before X’mas” while Sugiharto and Jill wore their costumes as Santa and Santa’s wife, bringing an unconventional performance to celebrate this traditional holiday!

2006.11.05- 13th Anniversary Charitable Benefit
Took place in Kirkland main office.
Friends and Families came to support Tzu Chi’s charity event.
Tzu Chi also invited mayor of Kirkland, James Lauinger and his wife, Karen Lauinger to experience Tzu Chi’s culture.
Tzu Ching’s main role was to make sure that stands get enough utensil supplies and sanitary maintainence.
We were the recyling rangers!
