Students Expressing Environmental Dedication

Meetings

We meet every Tuesday at 5:30 in McMahon's Pompeii Room. It's in the basement, right next to the 8, at the foot of the north staircase. During the summer, however, we are not holding meetings.

Upcoming Events

Since it's the summer, there's not much planned. Keep checking your e-mail for notices about P-Patch work parties. Also, if you are a returning resident, consider becoming a DAWG volunteer, which means you help residents move in. You get to move in early yourself, and it's a great chance to tell new students about SEED!

What is SEED?

SEED is an environmentally-focused student group at the University of Washington. As we are funded by Housing and Food Services, our main focus is promoting sustainability in the campus residence halls and dining operations. We often work closely with HFS, from helping to expand the composting system to promoting an HFS-run program that allows students to swap incadescent lightbulbs for CFL's. At the same time, we also reach out to the broader campus community with actions such as distributing brochures on the environmental positions of presidential candidates. Our activities are diverse, but they all support the same simple goal: to create a more sustainable society.

Get Involved

There are several ways to get a taste of SEED:
  • Come to a meeting. We meet every Tuesday at 5:30 PM in McMahon's Pompeii Room. It's in the basement, right next to the 8, at the foot of the north staircase.
  • Sign up to be on our mailing list.
  • Join our Facebook group.
Without question, the most valuable of these steps is attending a meeting. We are very laid-back and always love to see people get involved, so we welcome new faces at any time of the year. Signing up for the mailing list or coming to a meeting absolutely does not commit you to anything, so there's nothing to lose. Come experience SEED for yourself!
