RECENT PAST EVENTS: YMCA Homeless Youth Dinner
Ronald McDonald House Activity Night: Wednesday January 14th from 5:30 ~ 8pm. Join your fellow Rotaractors and our parent club, Sunrise University Rotary, as we host an activity night for RMDH children. We need 4 or 5 people to come and play! This week's activity: Fun With Playdoh Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service at NW Harvest: Monday January 19th 8am ~ 4:00pm. Rotaract is joining with SPARX in celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day by making a difference! We will be going to the Northwest Harvest Food Bank to help sort, re-package and label food at the Kent Past Community Education Events:
UWHS Rotaract
has participated in the Latina Health Fair for several years. This year's event
was held at Sand Point Community Fair University
Sunrise Rotary, our parent Rotary club, started this event three years ago to
support the Transitional Housing residents of the Sand Point community. The
residents are often homeless, displaced, and/or youth without families,
etc. UWHS Rotaractors lend a helping hand with the event including a
barbeque, picnic, games for kids, and live band music, etc. In the past,
educational booths have been run by our club members promoting oral health
care. Brain Awareness Week at
the UW This event is
focused on elementary school and junior high youth to teach them about how the
brain functions and the importance of keeping the brain healthy.
Past Local Volunteering Events:
Ronald McDonald House UWHS Rotaract runs
movie nights and activity nights with the kids where we have decorated cookies
and run arts and crafts projects. University District Food
Bank Our volunteers
lend a hand on a biweekly basis cleaning, packaging food supplies and providing
other assistance to the local food bank. YMCA Homeless Youth
Shelter Our club
raises funds every year to supply a lunch to feed ~60 local homeless youth. Our
next event is scheduled for Saturday November 1st at Med rest Our club
members are supporting homeless youth by volunteering with Med rest which
offers clients seen in clinics a safe, warm, comfortable overnight stay with
supervision at a local youth serving agency's transitional living house, and
assistance with intake at Respite the following morning. |
