Greetings From UKC's New President
Hello Everyone,
It is a pleasure to be able to work with you guys this year. I am very excited to take over for Bryce as President of the University Kayak Club here at UW, and I will perform to the best of my abilities to fill his shoes and keep this excellent program alive and kicking. I am still not quite familiar with everyone here, but I will know you guys soon enough.
I will give you a brief synopsis about myself. My name is Shawn Campbell, and I am currently a sophmore here at UW. I am intending on pursuing a major in Engineering in Aeronautics and Astronautics (rocket science, basically), and with that, I am taking pretty difficult classes . I also do NASA-funded research at the Advanced Propulsions Laboratory on campus. I initially joined the University Kayak Club because I enjoyed having the opportunity to be able to take a boat out on the lake whenever I felt stressed, or just in need of a relaxing paddle. The University Kayak Club has offered me a lot from last year, and now I am ready to contribute back to that, by seeing to it that every other member is satisfied.
With that said, I look forward to working with the officers and members of this club. Like yourselves, I will also be very busy with college itself, including research and classes. On a side note, I apologize for not being there last Sunday for the pool session, I had other personal manners to attend to. I will do the best I can to meet people, to keep up with everyone's emails, and to be present at meetings, pool sessions, etc.
It will take a little time for me to get adjusted to the job and its content, but Bryce and the other former officers will still be around this year to help out with the club and to transition the duties and responsibilities to myself as well as the other new officers. Feel free to message me if you have any questions, concerns, or just wish to get acquainted with me. Take care, and I look forward to meeting each and every one of you in person soon!
