About the Program
The Tri-Beta Biology Study Sessions offer free weekly support to students in the Introductory Biology series (BIOL 180, 200, & 220), GENOME 371, and BIOLOGY 100. Each week, peer tutors are available for group or one-on-one assistance with student-driven questions & topics. The program is designed to assist students in their studies and to introduce them to the resources available to undergraduates in the Department of Biology.

Study Session Location and Hours
Study sessions begin the third week of this quarter and are held in Hitchcock's 4th Floor lounge (directly above the 3rd floor entrance). The sessions run through the last day of instruction. Instructional Center, Office of Minority Affairs
The academic arm of the Office of Minority Affairs (OMA) Educational Opportunity Program, the Instructional Center (IC), serves students that are affiliates of the OMA. The front desk is where students request to use the Center for tutoring, other instruction, or computer lab usage. All students using the Instructional Center must have a scan card; this card is issued through the OMA Counseling Center, or OMA affiliates can come to the IC and sign up for a card. Study-Smarter Workshops
The UW Counseling Center offers a series of free Study-Smarter workshops designed to help students become more effective, efficient, and motivated. You may attend as many workshops as you wish. You also may attend the same workshop more than once. To attend, select a workshop and arrive 5 to 10 minutes before the scheduled time. Program FAQ

Do I need to be a member of TriBeta to come?
No. Any student currently taking the Introductory Biology series (BIOL 180, 200, 220) may use the tutoring service.

How much does it cost?
Nothing, the service is free.

When are tutors available?
Study Sessions are two hours each (see Tutoring Session Hours).

What do I need to bring?
Please come prepared with questions and/or topics.

Who are the tutors?
Tutors include upper-level undergraduates in the Department of Biology, current Biology TAs, and graduates in Biology. Click here to find out more about this year's tutors!
