Tribeta Officer Descriptions

All officers are expected to be available to help other officers as needed

President:
  • Overall management of the club
  • Updating of officers’ calendar and keeping officers and advisors informed of club activities
  • Creating agendas for officer meetings
  • Introducing speakers at meetings
  • Assisting all of the officers whenever needed
  • Managing the new officer elections each spring and training of new officers

VP of Meetings:
  • Work with officers, members and advisors to decide on new meeting topics
  • Contacting speakers to address the topics at meetings
  • Preparing a schedule for each quarter’s meetings to be included in the biology department newsletter
  • Managing meetings and helping to provide logistical support (rooms, keys and equipment)

VP of Membership:
  • Managing Tri-beta and Biology club membership (Processing new members and welcoming them to the club)
  • Registering the names of new Tri-Beta members with the national office.
  • Work with other officers to recruit new and more active members
  • Managing induction ceremonies, and ordering honor cords and other membership materials from the Tri-Beta national office

Secretary:
  • Keeping and distributing minutes of officer meetings
  • Managing the Tri-Beta e-mail system
  • Checking our mailboxes (318 Hitchcock and the HUB)
  • Managing the documentation for the club (Certificates, permits)

Advertising & Promotions:
  • Managing promotional and advertising materials to recruit new members and to advertise club’s events, meetings and opportunities
  • Updating our display boards
  • Coming up with new ways to promote the club and its endeavors

VP of Community Events:
  • Organize Annual Events like the Interclub Halloween Party and Biology Dept. Spring BBQ
  • Find and organize on- and off-campus events throughout the year
  • Organize community service events such as Relay for Life, Wii-Lay for Life, and K-Wing Garden Maintenance

Treasurer:
  • Managing and documenting all funds received or paid by the Biology club and Tri-Beta
  • Helping to coordinate the purchase of the things needed for the club’s activities
  • Manage Biology club apparel program
  • Create and manage quarterly/yearly budgets
  • Sign up new officers (president and treasurer) to our bank account in Spring
  • Managing the annual t-shirt design contest

Webmaster:
  • Managing, updating and improving Tri-Beta’s website and officers’ area.
  • Create facebook events and send out messages to members
  • Create officer mailman and/or listservs
  • Creating Catalyst surveys and polls

Tutoring:
  • Manage the Biology study sessions Tues, Wed, Thurs 4:30-6:30 with peer tutors
  • Organize and present the “How to survive and thrive introductory biology” workshop at start of each quarter for the Biology 180 class.
  • Managing the Teaching Assistant Award each spring quarter.

Mentoring:
  • Managing the Biology Club mentoring program
