The Bering Sea Bottom Trawl survey has been conducted annually since 1978. Additional nearby areas, such as the eastern Bering Sea slope, the Gulf of Alaska, and the Aleutian Islands, are surveyed on a rotational basis. The purpose of the survey is to obtain information about abundance, composition, and life history of commercially important fish and keystone species.
