SWE's Mission
Motivate both women and men to achieve full potential in careers as engineers and leaders. Expand the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life. Demonstrate the value of diversity.
SWE's History
The Society of Women Engineers was founded in 1950 and is a non-profit educational service organization of both professional engineers and engineering students. Professional and student chapters such as the UW's are located throughout the world and membership is open to both women and men.
Why should you join SWE?
Our main priority is you, the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) student. All of the events we organize are geared toward helping you learn more about the numerous educational and professional opportunities that are out there for you as you work toward your degree. In October of 1997, company tours were added to our list of events. If there's a company you'd like to tour, drop us an email and let us know.
- We Organize:
- Resume critiques and mock interviews, both of which provide indispensable help with the dreaded, but vital job searching process.
- Monthly general meetings that feature influential guest speakers (i.e. professors or professionals), information on upcoming engineering events, and of course, good food
- Annual Spring Break Trip, an out-of-state trip that includes company tours and unforgettable recreational activities!
