Fisheries Biologist (May 01 - present)
Yurok Tribe, Weitchpec, CA
Led field crews in gathering data relating to anadromous fish species on the Klamath River from Iron Gate Dam to the estuary at Requa. Lead Biologist in charge of cunducting spring chinook thermal refugia research.
Research Associate (Oct 00 - May 01)
Californians for Alternatives to Toxics (CATs), Arcata, CA
CATs is a non-profit, grassroots organization dedicated to the elimination of the use of toxic chemicals (especially pesticides) through public education, research, and the promotion of non-toxic alternatives. My duties focus on researching the California Department of TransportationŐs (Caltrans) use of herbicides for roadside vegetation control. Includes gathering and reviewing toxicology data, pesticide use reports, studies of herbicide alternatives, monitoring plans, the results of roadside runoff characterization studies, and a study on endocrine disruption in fish. In addition to writing comment letters and conducting correspondence, I have been reviewing relevant sections of the California Environmental Quality Act, the Public Records Act, an Environmental Impact Report on CaltransŐ Vegetation Control Program, and CaltransŐ Statewide Storm Water Discharge Permit and Management Plan.
Whitewater Guide (Summers, 94 - 00)

One day and multi-day wilderness river trips. Paddle and oar rafts, plus inflatable kayak instruction and supervision. In addition to on-river guiding, duties included trip leading, packing, gear maintenance, setting up camp, and cooking plus storytelling, natural history interpretation, and fishing assistance. Licensed Idaho whitewater guide. In the past also worked for Aurora River Adventures on the Trinity, Klamath, Salmon, and Eel Rivers of northern California.

Summer Leadership Education Adventure Program (LEAP), Humboldt & Trinity Counties, CA
LEAP is a non-profit, volunteer organization that provides rock climbing, whitewater rafting, and backpacking trips for youth at risk and challenged adults who would otherwise not have the opportunity. Responsible for managing all aspects of the program with over 30 volunteers and 300 participants.

Salmon River Spring Chinook Work Group (02 - current)
The purpose of this work group is develop and move forward with a plan to protect and restore wild spring chinook populations in the Salmon River and throughout the Klamath Basin.
Teen LEAP (93 - 01)
Arcata, CA
Co-founded and directed a new program modeled after LEAP with Arcata High School student volunteers. Responsible for managing all aspects of the program. Currently advisor to Teen LEAP, which along with the other LEAP programs, is a Campfire Boys & Girls Club.
Californians for Alternatives to Toxics (95 - 99)

Californians for Alternatives to Toxics (CATs) is a non-profit, grassroots organization dedicated to the elimination of the use of toxic chemicals (especially pesticides) through public education, research, and the promotion of non-toxic alternatives. In addition to organizational duties as a Board member, activities included attending public meetings, conducting press conferences, representing local residents before Caltrans officials, and documenting illegal herbicide spraying.
