Going out in Seattle – the best clubs
Introduction
During your years here at university, you will probably want to enjoy the variety of Seattle’s nightlife and clubbing offers. You’ll see that as a student at university, you will have many more opportunities and a lot more time to go out at night than when you were at school, and you will soon realize that Seattle has a lot to offer you in terms of nightlife and entertainment.
Bars
Are you looking for a place to enjoy a quick casual drink and have a laugh with your friends, while not getting too dressed up? Good places to go in that case are the College Inn Pub, where students and faculty of the uni often go. There’s a few British and Irish pubs around, such as the George and Dragon Pub, the Globe, the Dubliner or the Galway Arms, so you probably won’t ever be short of drinks there. There’s also a few breweries around, so if you like beer, that’s the place to go for you. Big Time Brewery & Alehouse is near the university and as such, mostly filled with students and quite well-known. Other good breweries are Pyramid Alehouse, which serves great food as well, and the very traditional Pike Pub & Brewery. If you feel like playing a little billiard with that, good places to go are Belltown Billiards, though on weekends it’s more of a dance club, and Temple Billiards, where you can get quite good deals on the booze as well. Or, if you’re really into billiard, you can go to Jillian’s Billiard Club, which is where the professionals meet.
Restaurant Bars
Would you like to grab a bite to eat before you go out tonight? Seattle’s restaurant bars won’t disappoint you. The great cultural variety in restaurant bars especially is amazing. You will find anything from a nice Asian meal at the hip Bonzai lounge to some Mexican food at Beso Del Sol. You can have German food at the Bierstube or Belgian food and drinks at the Brouwer’s Café if you’re prepared to cash out a little more. If you’re looking for classy, why not try the Century Ballroom and Café, with its intimate tables and salsa and swing dancing. Or, if you just want a casual meal out and a pint of beer, places like the People’s Pub are for you, where they serve American comfort food and loads of beer choices to go with it.
Clubs
Feel like having a great night out dancing? That won’t be a problem either, since Seattle is full of cool venues that are just waiting to be explored. A very hot club you can’t miss out on is Club Medusa, where you’ll get the best dance and hip-hop tracks, the poshest crowd and the most expensive and fancy drinks all in one night out. Another good club with the same style of music is Aqua Lounge, especially since they have long nights until 4 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. You can also try the last Supper Club, which is quite posh and very hot as well. If you’re into live music, you might want to give Central Saloon a try, which features new up-and-coming bands seven days a week at quite reasonable prices most of the time, plus the food is excellent. If you’re into punk rock, try El Corazon, which gets loads of good new punk rock bands on stage. For jazz and a sophisticated night out, go to Jazz Alley, a really good venue to have dinner at and then enjoy the show. And then, whatever music you’re into, try Fenix Underground, because it has five floors and all kinds of music playing, so you’re bound to find something you like either way.
