What: Appointment of new officers, discussion of upcoming events and plans

Events

• Professors and Pizza

An event to give students a chance to meet and discuss with professors

• Tentatively October 10, Tuesday, 4:30-6:30 PM
• Aimed more towards graduate students, so later in the day
• Order Papa John’s for event
• Still need to reserve room to hold event
• Kyros will be making flyers/e-mail

• BCC STC Meet and Greet

An event to give BCC students a chance to find out about STC

• Tentatively a Thursday afternoon (at least one week after Professors and Pizza)
• 1 – 1½ meet and greet event
• Need to provide food/refreshments

• BCC STC promoting

Jen and Sean will visit the campus to promote STC in TC-related classes

• Date to be arranged according to Jen and Sean’s schedules

• Research for T-shirts

Athena will research t-shirts for TC (and STC?)

• Research prices, quantities, discounts, colors [Cafepress.com]
• T-shirt art will be decided on through an art contest

• Dept. of Technical Communication Winter Party

UWTC annual winter party; STC contributes to organizing the event

• Danielle volunteered as project manager
• December 5, Tuesday night, 6 – 9 PM (possibly ½ hour setup beforehand)
• There are still leftover decorations in storage to take inventory on
• Buca de Beppo was ordered for catering last year; someone will need to research catering menus
• Brainstorming for door prizes; also need to think of better way to give out prizes than a raffle (silent auction?)
• Overall theme for party still needs to be decided on

• Spring quarter Career Fair

Career fair open to all students, organized by STC

o April 10, 2007, University of Washington HUB

o Note: Only 14 students attended last year

o Need to promote event better to both students and recruiters

· Spring quarter UWTC-STC party

Organized and paid for by STC

o Spring barbecue picnic theme

o Raffle tickets for door prizes

o Location tentatively a park near campus

o Invite: alumni, STC members, TC professors, students, career fair recruiters

Raffle ideas for parties

· Jump drives (Danielle looking up prices)

· Keychains

· Lanyards (Jen looking up prices?)

Workshop ideas

• How to create a resume
• How to make an effective portfolio/marketing yourself to recruiters
• “Perils and Pitfalls” – co-op vs. internships, problems with common classes

· Create messageboard/forum for STC on website
