7th Annual All-Mountain Clean Up this Saturday

7th annual all-mountain clean-up

This Saturday a bunch of rad folks will be gathering at Alpental at 10 am and dispersing across the base areas of the Summit at Snoqualmie in an effort to keep the area litter-free for all the critters who hit the snow-free slopes during the summer months.

There will be a bunch o’ free food including a BBQ and lots of rad people giving high-fives. Pack your parka if you’re planning on attending, the forecast is calling for a chance of t-storms.

Your snowrider karma awaits.

Spacecraft and Mad Bunny Art Show

Lend me yr ears, this is going to be a good one.

Spacecraft and Mad Bunny Art Show
Friday May 22nd from 5 to 10pm
227 9th Ave N., Seattle, WA. 98109

fresh new art | silent auction | drink specials | photo booth | gift shop | live music from Scott Sullivan | all to support the : Bali School Fund

The long awaited Spacecraft Gallery Stickersheet has been completed and will be unveiled on Friday, May 22, for the first time at Spacecraft headquarters.

Special guest “Mad Bunny” from Japan will be displaying new works as well as Spacecraft’s co-founder (Stefan Hofmann) the creative mind behind nearly all the visual imagery of Spacecraft.

This is an event to attend with: One of a kind stretched canvas prints of each sticker image from the new gallery sheet, sculptures, posters, live music from Scott Sullivan, a photo booth from Pat Wright and good friends.

We will be unveiling the new sticker sheets as well as presenting a silent auction for one off framed prints of the images. Proceeds will go to the “Bali School Fund”, helping to put kids in schools in the beautiful land of Bali Indonesia, where we have an office and make many of our fine products. This project is close to our hearts and we thank you for contributing your talent to make a difference within a wonderful community.

It was the best of seasons..

.. it was the worst of seasons.

It was an unrelenting month of powder. March blew through WA and left over 13 feet of the Northwest’s finest in its wake.
It was a brutal month of ice. Almost six weeks passed without any measurable snowfall in the Washington Cascades. Of course, that didn’t bug us too much, as there’s always a freshly groomed park somewhere.

Preparing to drop Polaris Bowl, Steven’s Pass on April 4th.

The season started late. Mt. Baker was the first to drop the ropes on December 14th, one of the area’s latest recorded starts (<jedi mind tricks>remember, 04-05 never happened</jedi mind tricks>).
Yet it still went strong, with Alpental spinning the lifts until 4pm PDT on Cinco de Mayo, or more appropriately, Cinco de Powder, as there were about 6 inches of gloppy, wet Cascade concrete up top for those willing to brave the rain at the base and the wind in your face.

There were epic trips to Whistler for college weekend and Montana over President’s Day. HST spread its reach across state, national, even continental demarcations. We also took time out to help the sport grow: participating in snowboarding outreach programs such as SOS and Chill. This season’s Hope on the Slopes event at Steven’s Pass saw a massive increase in participation and success, thanks to some dedicated HST officers and the largest UW-supported crew to ever participate in the event.

There was epic carnage. Hot tubs were overflown and coffee mugs were destroyed. Bones were snapped like trees in a tsunami. Perhaps worst of all, the Summit East ski area closed for the season on Jaunary 7th due to a massive heavy-rain-induced landslide which took out several chairlift towers.

But most importantly, it was a season of snowboarding. Whether it was your best season, worst season, or just another in the books, I hope that your experience with HST was a positive, beneficial one.

We’ll still be holding office hours for the next several weeks on Tuesdays from 3-4pm and Wednesdays from 12:30-1:30pm at our usual location in the HUB near the Information Desk. Feel free to drop-by and collect up any remaining money we owe you for gas, competition fees, etc. (the earlier the better and bring yo receipts). We’ve got a season-end BBQ/party in the works as well as the annual T-shirts and possibly some stickers, so keep checking the calendar and your inbox for the 4-1-1.

For those of you who are preparing to, or already have graduated, I, along with the rest of the Team, want to express sincere congratulation and wish you success in wherever your future takes you (hopefully to a land of more epic, more plentiful bluebird powder days). For those of you sticking around for the summer and/or next year, we’ll be looking for some help. We rely on you to spread the good word of HST. We’ll also be on the lookout for officers for next year, so if you’re interested, let us know and we’ll do our best to incorporate you into the awesome inner-workings of the radical HST snow-dominating machine.

Over and out.
