In 1930, the Sigma Kappas at the University of Washington moved into the "castle" that we still call home today. We are proud that our chapter house is under the protection of the Seattle Landmark Preservation Board and is listed on both the Washington and National Register of Historic Places.
The house was designed by Joseph L. Skoog, the husband of a Sigma Kappa alumna, and is an eclectic mix of a variety of styles from the Tudor movement. Mr. Skoog also designed the Sigma Kappa chapter house at Washington State University.
Our home is not only beautiful, but it is also a comfortable living environment for our members. Our House Manager works with our House Mom, Chef, and Corporation Board to ensure that our members are happy and safe while living in our home. Every year our Corporation Board consistently achieves the Gold-Level Corporation Board Award of Distinction, the highest honor our national organization gives Corporation Boards.
Due to efficient oversight and the commitment of our alumnae and parents, Sigma Kappa is one of the most affordable sororities to live in at the UW. We offer a variety of amenities including two study rooms and a library, a large parking lot, high speed internet and cable television, a spacious courtyard, ample closet space, workout equipment, and beautiful common rooms to hang out in or entertain guests.
